Comic Tidbits!

In 1986: Frank Miller’s Batman: The Dark Knight debuts featuring a grim Batman of the future. The book was colored by Lynn Varley, who received equal billing with her husband, Frank Miller, the artist and writer of the book. Previously, graphic novels were produced at 11x15 magazine size format. This four issue mini-series was published at the same size as a regular comic but on good paper, square bound, and with cardboard covers. This format for high-end comics came to be known as Prestige. It was also the first book at DC to go through multiple printings and then to be collected into a trade paperback and sold in regular book stores.
